Rough and Finish Carpenter
We're looking for a carpenter who can handle both the rough work and the finished details of a Manhattan apartment renovation. You should be comfortable moving from metal framing and backing to door installation, trim and fitted millwork, with the care these homes require.
What you will do
- Lay out and install metal stud walls, ceiling framing, soffits and dropped ceilings according to the drawings and field conditions.
- Complete wood framing and install blocking and backing for doors, cabinetry, millwork and mounted fixtures.
- Install baseboards, casings, door jambs, interior doors, crown molding and other trim with consistent joints, reveals and clearances.
- Install and adjust cabinetry, built-ins, shelving, closet components and other millwork, including scribing, fillers and finished panels.
- Read construction and shop drawings, verify field measurements and raise discrepancies before cutting or installing.
- Coordinate framing and carpentry with plumbing, electrical, mechanical work and adjacent finishes.
- Complete hardware adjustments, finish repairs and punch-list work while protecting completed surfaces.
- Keep the work area organized and follow the project's protection, dust-control and building requirements.
What we are looking for
- Hands-on rough and finish carpentry experience in residential renovations, with examples of detailed interior work.
- Strong metal framing, trim and millwork installation skills, including careful layout and accurate measurement.
- Ability to work from drawings, resolve routine field conditions and communicate with the site supervisor.
- Reliable attendance, safe work habits and professional conduct around clients, neighbors and building staff.
Tell us about your carpentry experience and include a resume or work history. Photos of framing, trim and millwork installations are helpful.
